First Friends, My Current Preoccupation

After hearing and seeing below 5:40-minute video about Islamist religious extremists in Brussels, you'll understand why I have reached the conclusion that I need to marry three more women and produce, rather quickly due to my advancing years and the emergency situation described in the video, at least a dozen more children.  Believe me when I say it was no small feat to convince my wife of decades that we need to do that to hold up our end in this fight to the death.  It took all the guile and logic I have.

Dangerous Tides

What you'll see in this video is startling, shocking, scary, and sad.  The agenda being pushed by Egyptian religious extremists is also being pushed in many countries of Europe.  You find it in the US, Canada, Australia, Somalia, Pakistan, everywhere you look across the globe.  It begs these questions:

• What is behind this brand of extremism?
• Where does all this ignorance, misinformation, and disinformation about the meaning and value of life come from?
• Why all this fear of civilization, development, progress and prosperity?
• How idiotic can one become thinking that he/she knows what God/Allah/Adonai/Ishvara....wants, needs, prefers or requires? and
• What level of hatred, with violence as a predictable consequence, are humans capable of?

Willful Ignorance

These extremists are spending most of their time working on believing - and they want you to believe it as well - that nothing worthwhile has happened since Islam was born ca. 610.  All the enlightenment, development, progress in arts and science, technology, human rights, including women's rights, all the freedoms sought and achieved throughout many spots in the world, all of that means nothing.  Allah does not approve of it, and all of the people diligently working all of these centuries to make this a better world will go to Hell.  This outlook in regards Allah is deplorable in the extreme.

 Two very relevant, and astonishingly ignored by these extremists, times in history must be mentioned here:

  that assembled
  , synthesized and significantly advanced the knowledge gained from the ancient Roman, Chinese, Indian, Persian, Egyptian, Greek, Byzantine and
  Phoenician civilizations.

  Arab

   during this time and in 
  the 
  9th century it was popularized in the region by the Persian mathematician al-Khwarizmi.

• The Renaissance:

Beginning in Italy, and spreading to the rest of Europe by the 16th century, its influence was felt in literature, philosophy, art, music, politics, science, religion, and other aspects of intellectual inquiry.

These times of remarkable and indispensable achievement were not achieved under the banner of Sharia'a.  On the contrary, they were made possible through an astounding degree of diversity of beliefs, thoughts, ideas, ethics and hard work.  These times, and current times more than ever, required a mind-boggling flexibility of being, humility and open-mindedness to learn from an amazing variety of cultures.  One stands in salute to the atmosphere that must have existed at that time, allowing such imagination and innovation, and it is quite certain that it was not under Sharia'a law-dominated societies.

Colossal Hypocrisy

The people you see in the video came to Europe in search of a better life, better standard of living, better living conditions, better everything.  This life they are currently enjoying was basically put together by people not of their ilk, ethnicity-wise, religion-wise, all kinds of -wise.  Yet, they seem oblivious to the obvious, this "European" life will disappear within a generation if they achieve their ill-conceived objectives, they will turn wherever they are into a pigsty in no time at all.  Why?  Because they lack the know-how, the intention and the drive for a life well-lived.  This is not to mention that if they do not like the way these "white" people (see the video) set up their lives and their countries, they can pack up and go back where they came from.  It is really a self-evident code of honor: When you live in a country and take the best it has to offer, you cannot refuse to defend it. 

Egregious Arrogance

The arrogance of the man being interviewed in the video is palpable and remarkable.  He is convinced of his ability to achieve his obvious eventual goal of world domination.  There are (at least) two factors that cause him to feel this way:

• It's all about the numbers.  He has confidence that because of the dramatic, continuing (and irresponsible, but that's another conversation) birth rate of those who think like him, his views will eventually prevail as they take over the majority position in the population.
• Patience.  He's not in a hurry.  While he predicts that his views will be held by the majority in Brussels by 2030, he states that he'll wait for as long as it takes.

Inclusiveness or Isolation

This sure makes it hard to remain open minded and inclusive politically or otherwise.  It is really hard to extend to such people the benefits of human rights when themselves are so devoid of principles, ethics and morals and they are so unwilling to extend the benefits of human rights to others and even to themselves, particularly their women.  They are retrogrades par excellence.  They need to be made to understand unequivocally that the world is NOT a nation of Islam, it encompasses all kind of nations and all types of societies.  They need to adjust and learn how to live in peace and harmony within and with all.  Their ideology should at all times be exposed and ridiculed for what it is:  defunct, illogical and the antithesis of the meaning of life.  They basically have no value for life, their focus is strictly on the afterlife where they will get everything they did not work for in life after life, for free with no strings attached.

Reasoning, negotiating, compromising, or bargaining with these people is certain to prove futile.  They simply refuse to comprehend plurality and tolerance.  They see everyone who does not think exactly as they do as disbelievers, infidels, apostates destined to Hell.  They must be made to embrace diversity, they must submit to counseling and they must be reformed.  In the meantime, they must be contained, marginalized and forced to respect the rule of law wherever they are.  I can see no possibility of there being any agreement or reconciliation with such people anywhere they are.  They have rejected the values of progress, modernity and prosperity.

God's Law versus Man's Law - Nations Cannot Develop on a Religious Ideology

Establishing and continuing a successful nation rather than a tribe, in a predominantly religious land without separation of religion and government, cannot be done.  If we take Islam as a case in point, Islamic rules do not allow it; the truth of the matter is that achieving democracy and human rights in a country where Sharia'a law is applied is an impossibility.

Basic, very basic, requirements for development include:

• A constitutional clear-cut separation of religion and government. 
• Embracing inclusiveness and progressive laws.
• Men not needing to control women.
• Pluralism and diversity as the norm, acceptance of all comers.
• Comprehension of human rights,
• The rule of law is not a sin; rather the ultimate sin is convincing people that they should resign themselves to poverty and illiteracy in life because Heaven will reward them.  The rule of law is 
   the only way 
  to shape a constitutional and legal system that is relevant, contemporary, progressive, equitable, and just.
• Acceptance of the diverse nature of opinions, rules, theories and interpretations.
• Education, knowledge and information, encompassing up-to-date all human endeavors culturally and intellectually and not just 
   
  the literature of a specific religious denomination, is a necessity, not an option and not a luxury.
• Transparency, not concealment, a critical behavior code.
• Realization of the fact that humanity is made not of one people or one religion or one anything, but of many of everything.

Now, you will excuse me, my wife and I are off in search of my three additional wives.  The video suggests that our only defense against these extremists is to outnumber them, and I must get to work on that strategy.
