Instead of outrage, instead of another strident, easily-ignored, editorial denouncing India's culture of blaming the victim for rape, a group of Indian comics produced a 4:00-minute video that captured huge attention, millions of views.
The script is witty, sarcastically tells women that being raped is their own fault, listing under things that cause rape justifications actually given by Indian politicians, including women (i) using cell phones, (ii) wearing skirts, (iii) going out without men, and (IV) going out with men.
It also gives out few pointers on how to avoid rape, such as by getting married...If he's your husband, it's not rape!
This satirical video is made by male comics who felt outraged, showing the world that feminists can be funny, and can be men. The video makes a point about the absurdity of official responses to rape investigations in a country where an estimated two women are raped every minute.
