US, Middle East, Islamists & Terrorism

Simply put, after 9/11/2001 the attitude of the United States toward the Arab world and its people wherever they may be changed forever.  They now represent an even more foreign culture, an adversarial one at best, a dangerous and violent one, one to stay away from and to keep far, far away.  This  is reflected in current policies and actions that basically say the following:
  • The most passionate, motivated and violent segment of the Arab populations are the Islamists.
  • What the Islamists are infuriated most about is the incursion of the Western culture into their lives, the infidels corrupting Islam's way of life; this is happening as we know through communication, television, movies, Internet, printed media, tourism, companies, etc.
  • What better for the US than to strike a deal with the Islamists (the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt for example) to give them power and control over their countries to do whatever they damn please with their people, keep them in complete darkness if so desired, turning them into zombies if they wish, etc.; provided they leave the US and the West as a whole alone.  Again, in Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood would have been moronic turning down such condition, what better than having the wealth and fortunes of Egypt all to themselves, enjoying life to the fullest, while having the nation behind an iron curtain, adhering to strict Sharia'a laws, thus securing Heaven as well.
  • Obviously, the logic from the US/West point of view is that their people safety, security and well-being comes first and last, people in the Arab world are not their problem, they are, in the vast majority anyway, hopelessly mired in religious dogma and a backward way of life, with little if no chance for progress, so why not deliver them on a silver platter to the Islamists.
  • This of course was a deal based on the clear understanding that Islamists are the most likely to strike again ala 9/11, let us placate them and keep them at bay.  Let us give terrorist Ayman ElZawahiri and the likes their countries to mess up with to their hearts' content.

The logic is rather simple.  Islamists govern their nations, absorbing within their countries Islamic terrorism, thus stopping its export to the West.

While this is a clever strategy by the US/West, it may even help achieve narrow interests such as regional stabilitycounterterrorism, overflight rights, and preferred Suez Canal accessit is nevertheless devilish, amoral and unconscionable, writing people of the Middle East off as if they are sheep or worse!?!

Moreover, it is short-sighted.  Consider the situation in Europe, if not the US.  Islamists are rampaging all over the place there, becoming more and more arrogant and aggressive, demanding that Sharia law be implemented on them, trying to impose their way of life, creating havoc in the process, flaunting everywhere that soon, or rather in the medium term, Europe will become Islamist, mainly due the rapid increase in their numbers!

Islamism, not Islam, is a form of fascism, nothing less, nothing more.
