Below friends are three thought-provoking videos, the first two are cerebral words from two highly dissimilar humans, the third one is a direct case in point of what Pat Condell in the second video talks about, rioting Muslims:
- 4:00-minute with 19yr old Palestinian, Farah Chamma,
- 5:00-minute with 63yr old Brit, Pat Condell, and
- 7:00-minute video re the Muslim Brotherhood's actions for the 48 days in Egypt leading to the August 14 government crackdown.
Definitely worth listening/watching. Our world today is cracked almost beyond repair, and one infinitely hopes for a recovery.
But first, let us briefly go over what I mean by "Muslim Extremists, Fundamentalists, Ultra-Orthodox." These are the humans who claim to know the truth not just for themselves but for the world entire. This in a world where one can spend a lifetime learning, assimilating knowledge from all four corners of the world and still have no clue where the truth lies! It all starts with their professed desire to return to 7th century Islam, because they believe that is what Allah wants them to must do, with the goal to establish a society where:
- Islam is the solution,
- The Koran is the constitution,
- Allah is the objective,
- The Prophet is the leader,
- Sharia'a law is the law of the land,
- Jihad is the way of life, and
- Dying for the sake of Allah is the highest aspiration.
In a world where diversity is the norm, where development and progress rely definitively upon capitalizing on diversity within national borders and globally, such a society is the antithesis of modern life, it is isolationist by nature.
Such a society would be intolerant of all others who are considered non-believers (who in fact are believers of the other two Abrahamic religions, polytheists, and all other belief systems), seeking violence first to deal with them. Consider the Coptics of Egypt, patriotic Egyptians from first century AD, 2000 years and counting in the Egyptian land. It would be funny if it were not insane for Muslim extremists to even think they have the right to declare Egypt an Islamic land where Copts are to accept being second-class citizens or they are not welcome. Violence, ignorance and moronism do not make right.
Such a society would be a pariah in the global community and would turn the balance of the world into adversaries, enemies with whom conflicts are constantly around the corner. Overall, such a society glorifies the afterlife at the expense of life, keeping its people swimming in their ills, despairing and full of hatred toward all others.
In closing, would it not be commendable and useful if these extremists were to heed Carl Sagan's saying: "Personally, I would be delighted if there were a life after death, especially if it permitted me to continue to learn about this world and others, if it gave me a chance to discover how history turns out." Sagan logically and thoughtfully is pointing out that our world with its indefatigable human spirit matters, and that how history will treat it matters, enormously so!
