I received below mosaic in regards the Muslim world's very disturbing export, terrorism, from friends in Australia, Europe, the East and West coasts of the US, and the Middle East. Further below are two links, and a visual, that provide a glimpse into this global nasty state of affairs.
First, My Take
As you contemplate below mosaic, try to put it together as you would a puzzle, and logically visualize the big picture. I find the situation exceedingly alarming. If we cannot figure out the root causes of the ongoing destruction and violence, can we honestly ever resolve this worldwide Islamic problem?
Instead, Muslims embark with ease on blaming non-Islamic countries for the dismal state of affairs in the countries they came from. The former are the same countries where Muslims enjoy a life of freedom, good health, solid education, jobs (affording them respect and prosperity), and a credible degree of political representation... all of which goes a long way in securing dignity, and a rewarding and decent life for those Muslims in particular. I know, I personally attest to that with conviction.
However, none of this will resolve the problem at hand. If we were to close our eyes and imagine a world where the rest of humanity has disappeared to another planet, would this be of benefit to the Muslim world? Would this take care of its issues with illegitimate, incompetent and corrupt governance? Would this refurbish its ineffectual and outdated culture? Would this bring Muslims into the 22nd century, living a healthy and enlightened life of plenty, harmony and dignity? Not at all, in fact quite the contrary. A steady and quick slide into the 7th century would ensue with a dwindling supply of goods, services and assistance currently provided by these infidels, these non-believers, these decadent humans, these evil creatures. 90+% of Dubai's professional staff, for example, are foreigners with little if any resemblance to Islam; last I heard many of the worldwide philanthropists, such as Bill Gates, are not Muslims. Multilateral and bilateral agreements/arrangements designed to assist in development and reconstruction are managed and carried out by dedicated humans hailing from all walks of life. There would be no Internet, with its much-desired social media or the next generation of communication devices, of energy solutions, of transportation means, of climate control action, and more.

To salvage a better future, Muslims must:
- Look inward, and realize that the over-the-top preoccupation, the deathly obsession with religion is directly linked to the failing of their ongoing civilization, making it easy for the current inept and corrupt leadership to persist, resulting in a failure to provide a fulfilling life for the people. It is precisely due to that failure that extremists no longer value life, are in favor of the afterlife thus harboring an apocalyptic wish and desiring nothing more than pushing the world into a catastrophic state.
- Demand quality leadership that delivers.
- Insist on reforming Islam, interpreting and explaining its doctrine in light of the needs of modern times. This doctrine consists of the Quran and the Sunna (the Sira - the biography of Prophet Mohammed - and the Hadith - the traditions of the Prophet.)
- Insist on having a firewall between public life and an individual's practice of Islam in his/her private life.
- Confront Islamic-based fundamentalism and wage intellectual war against its arcane, backward and destructive ideology by insistently emphasizing that while none of us mortals will ever know what God is expecting of us, God most certainly will not embrace or reward those:
- who commit terrorism and murder in His name, they are criminals not martyrs.
- who treat life with disdain, achieve nothing then expect to have everything handed to them in the afterlife.
- who believe that God is in the business of providing (حوريات) virgins, 72 of them, to men who slaughter other humans or blow themselves up.
- who have the unmitigated gall to believe that God the Fair/the Just/the Empowering, created women for the sole purposes of being men's (i) sex object, (ii) maid, (iii) cook and (iv) breeder of children.
- who use their religious conviction to justify their deadly rage in regards their inability for one reason or another to become productive and contributing members of their respective societies.
- who believe that a certain kind of people is preferred due to their religious beliefs, rituals, attire, etc. and thus will enjoy a preferential treatment in the Heavens.
- who have the blasphemous audacity to believe that God the Omnipotent, the Cosmic Controller, needs their help to reshape the world to His liking.
- who do not apply themselves to comprehend that God's Heavens are there for those who make life a positive experience, not only for themselves but for all the people they are privileged to touch.
- Accept only the separation of state and religion.
- Work diligently to drill on a daily basis, and for generations to come, into the psyche of the masses an understanding and belief that:
- nations cannot develop under the thumb of religious ideology.
- religion offers - community, spirituality, values, and support, and in that regard the people of our world adhere to many, many religions, all of which have equal meaning and purpose.
- religion has no direct link to development and progress, which are the foundation for a respectable degree of freedom, opportunity, stability and prosperity for the people.
- only way out of poverty and ignorance is hard work, espousing the values of knowledge and information, integrity, responsibility, accountability.
- there is no substitute for vehemently endorsing science, technology.
- tolerance of others, and societal diversity critically ensure that the whole of a nation is greater than the sum of its parts, thus affording it progress.
- only man/woman can make a difference in the life of men/women everywhere.
- to think any other way is the apex of cognitive dissonance.
That is what leadership, good government, and credible institutions are all about. I personally believe that is what Egypt's President Sissi is attempting to do. Nothing is more important than that for Egypt.

It’s just a matter of degree
The world must find a way to eradicate this extremist Islamic ideology before it descends humanity into an abyss from which recovery may be impossible.
In that regard, below Dr. Emanuel Tanya's explanation of the Muslim terrorist situation is one of the best I have ever read. His references to past history are accurate and clear.
